On Friday October 13, 1905, women suffragists went to a liberal party meeting to ask if they would grant votes for women. Cristabel Pankhurst and Annie Kenney were arrested and refused to pay the fines. It’s said Winston Churchill, who had been had been there and offered to pay their fines for them, but they refused.
