Michael Scot, (1175-1232) was a Scottish mathematician and scholar, educated at Oxford in Paris. He served as science advisor and court astrologer to Fredrick II of the Holy Roman Empire. His manuscripts dealt with astrology, alchemy, chiromancy and the occult sciences. He appears as a character in Dante Divine Comedy.
