The Ladder. Volume 3, Number 1, October 1958
San Francisco: Daughters of Bilitis, 1958. Cover by Kris Dodds. Wraps. 5-1/2 x 8-1/2" yellow wraps printed in red. [36] pages. This copy was never stapled, i.e., the text block is laid into the wraps (the LADDER was assembled by volunteers and stapled by hand, so this is not as uncommon as one might think); one tiny spot of soiling on the rear cover, else fine.
The Ladder was the first nationally distributed lesbian publication in the United States, issued monthly from 1956 to 1970, and once every other month in 1971 and 1972. In this issue, a report on the 5th annual Mattachine convention. Fine. Item #545
